About

Meet the founder.

Jason Sedotal is a combat-wounded veteran, ranch owner, and community leader from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. In 2004, while serving as a Military Policeman in the United States Army during combat operations in Iraq, he was wounded by an anti-tank landmine. The experience would later shape his lifelong commitment to serving fellow veterans and their families.

Today, Jason serves as Commander of Chapter 177 of the Military Order of the Purple Heart in Baton Rouge, where he advocates for combat-wounded veterans, honors the sacrifices of America’s service members, and leads initiatives that strengthen the veteran community throughout Louisiana.

Together with his wife, Christine, Jason owns Sedotal Land & Livestock, a combat-wounded, disabled veteran-owned ranch dedicated to foundation Quarter Horse breeding and horsemanship. In late 2025, after witnessing firsthand the healing power horses had in his own life, Jason and Christine founded Barnside Brotherhood, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping veterans and first responders find purpose, connection, and healing through horses.

What began as a personal journey of recovery grew into a mission that now provides a place where veterans can reconnect with a sense of brotherhood, learn new skills, and find support from others who understand their struggles. Under Jason’s leadership, Barnside Brotherhood has become a growing force for veteran wellness and suicide prevention in Louisiana.

Jason’s dedication to service has earned him recognition as the 2024 Patriot of the Year, but he considers his greatest accomplishments to be helping fellow veterans rediscover hope and building a legacy that will serve future generations.

Above all, Jason is a devoted husband and father of three who believes that true leadership is measured not by what you achieve for yourself, but by how many people you help along the way.

“If this saves one life, it’s all worth it.” — Jason Sedotal
