A Meaningful Day at the NRCHA Celebration of Champions

On Saturday, February 21st, 2026, Barnside Brotherhood traveled to Dallas–Fort Worth to attend the NRCHA Celebration of Champions. Our mission for the trip was simple but important: to connect with Reed Knutson of Two Ravens Foundation, a man who has been both an inspiration and a mentor to our organization since the beginning.

Walking Among Greatness

Before even stepping into the main arena, we took time to walk through the stables with our wives. It was a moment to slow down and take it all in, the incredible horses, the dedication of the riders, and the atmosphere that makes this event so special.

From there, we made our way through the vendor area, where the energy of the event continued to build.

Reconnecting with a Mentor

It was there that we found Reed. What followed was the kind of conversation that reminds you why you started in the first place. We spent hours talking about ways to better serve veterans, sharing ideas, experiences, and stories that continue to shape our mission.

An Unexpected Connection

In the middle of one of these conversations, we noticed something unexpected, Shannon Lawlor was set up right behind us at her booth.

Although we had never met her in person, we were all familiar with her powerful work and the documentary highlighting her efforts to raise funds for War Horses for Veterans through her art.

We felt compelled to introduce ourselves and express our gratitude.

What happened next was something special.

Jason Sedotal presented Shannon with a Purple Heart challenge coin as a token of appreciation for her dedication to supporting veterans. In that moment, a simple introduction turned into the beginning of a meaningful friendship.

Ending the Day in Good Company

We closed out the day by spending more time with Reed, along with his wife Janine, and Josh and Emily Hasty of Rukus Performance Equine.

It was the perfect way to end a day centered on connection, purpose, and shared values.

Reflection

Looking back, it’s hard not to feel deeply moved by the people we were surrounded by men and women who continue to step up and support our nation’s veterans in impactful ways.

Moments like these remind us that we are not alone in this mission. There is a strong, passionate community standing beside us, and together, we will continue to make a difference.
